I took a drive this morning down to Roy Vaccaro’s iron yard next to the Lowe’s parking lot in Brooklyn. I had my sights set on a beautiful little register cover that Scott had vetoed on our last trip (more on that register cover in another post). But I ended up bringing home this pristine 24″X 27″ pedestal sink for the master bath! Scott is not quite as vintage-obsessed as I am and he was sure that he wanted all new fixtures in “his” bathroom.
But I emailed him a pic from Roy’s and lo and behold, he loved it!, so I took it home for 75 bucks, thank you very much. I didn’t even try to bargain with Roy this time as some other customers came in and wanted to start a bidding war(!) over that sink. So I dashed off the cash and Roy DIY’d that sink right into the Ford Focus.
I know a sound like Minnie Pearl when I tout my scrappy bargains, but there’s just no point in trying to deny my Hee Haw tendencies. Anyhoo, it’s a lovely porcelain sink, about 5 years young, with a polished chrome, retro wide-spread faucet set. Now, if only this junkyard diva had a bathroom in which to house her (I mean his!) new sink….

Tout away — that’s a great deal! Glad to know about this place for when we get around to renovating our bathroom.
