Working toilet in the master bath!

Master bath toilet BEFORE renovation. Not exactly a throne.

Anyone who has lived through a renovation knows that it’s an exciting day when your new toilet gets installed and you hear the sweet sound of a low-flow flush.  It was a big week at our brownstone construction site with lots of progress made.  The tiler, plumber and electrician were working overtime.  Both bathrooms and the kitchen are -almost- finished.  We are in week eleven of the renovation and looking forward to moving back in in just three weeks.  Tick tock, tick tock…

Below are some more AFTER pics of the master bath.

Scott, looking puzzled, in his new shower. Perhaps he's forgotten what it's like to be in a shower that's not crumbling and moldy!

Love your “hex” tile! You and Scott obviously did not tempt fate by choosing something with that name, because it looks so good and custom design shows. Especially that little trio of tiles in the corner.

Nice job. Lovely master bath! I can’t wait til ours is done and we don’t all have to share with a teenager. I want to use your milk paint idea from the other bathroom wall for some exposed beams in our skylight and clerestory.

your place looks absolutely great! congratulations on a job well done! i’ve been looking around at hexagon tile for a small bathroom renovation. leaning towards matte glaze for easier cleaning, undecided between 3/4″ size or larger. did you used glazed and are you happy w/ the floor? thanks~!

Hi Jennifer and thanks for your nice comment. We are very happy with the hex tile floor. I was leaning towards unglazed because I love that worn look, but Scott lobbied for the matte glazed and I think he was right(he usually is). I wish we’d gone with a darker grey grout, but I guess the grout will darken over time since we don’t have a housekeeper : ) It’s very easy to wipe the matte white tile clean without having to worry about scrubbing the grout. Best of luck with your bathroom reno!
